Shayla Chatto
Shayla Chatto is a citizen of the Navajo Nation and a descendant of White Mountain Apache Tribe. She is a doctoral candidate in the Culturally Sustaining Education program at the University of Washington (UW). Her research interest focuses on state-mandated K-12 Native/Indigenous Education efforts and enactments, culturally sustaining/revitalizing pedagogies, and land-based theories and pedagogies grounded in Indigenous Research Methodologies. Prior to UW, she was an elementary educator and taught in Arizona and New Mexico. Shayla enjoys hiking, weaving Diné rugs, and spending time with family.
